It’s as if many of us don’t even know how close we are to going to war with another country…
Some food for thought… a closeup on perspectives between two conflicting countries right now…
Many Americans aren’t even truly paying attention to recent events which have almost caused an all-out war between us and Iran: us backing out of the nuclear deal, them blowing up oil tankers and a U.S drone, us pressing them with sanctions, and them stockpiling uranium… the list goes on and on.
But my point is, we are completely at peace here in the U.S as these things are happening. We have become so accustomed to our military strength that we sleep as if nothing could ever touch us. And in reality, not much could.
But in Iran? Kids my age are likely trembling at the thought of the possibility of a U.S air strike taking them out at any moment, as our aircraft carriers and increased military presence threaten them with “obliteration.”
What a strange and stark difference between two countries.
We have become so powerful — we have never known weakness in most of our existence. Yet in Iran, their entire country could be destroyed in a matter of months, as we did to Iraq.
The world is a strange place. I wonder what it must be like over there right now? The conversations Iranians are having? How are their lives being affected as we focus our sights on a country that has continually funded terrorism and has shelled our closest ally, Israel, for years?
Their lives could change at any moment in Iran.
As we sleep peacefully, they barely rest.
What a strange place, the earth we live in.
