Utah State Trooper saves man from train tracks in the nick of time

On October 16, in an extraordinary act of bravery and selflessness, a Utah State Trooper saved a man from getting hit by a train.

Utah state trooper Ruben Correas sprung into action when he was needed the most. A man was sitting inside of his SUV on train tracks, unconscious, as a train approached at high speed.

That’s when State Trooper Ruben Correas ran up and did everything in his power to remove the man from the car. His efforts worked, as he was able to drag the man out of the vehicle in the nick of time.

See below his daring act. The encounter was extremely close.

Speaking with CBS after, Correas described the situation.

“I actually wasn’t really thinking; I was just doing my job. The main concern was getting him out of the vehicle.”

Further elaborating, he said, “the vehicle flew about thirty feet in front of us, and that’s when I realized, oh wow, that was — that was a lot closer than what I would have liked.”

See below the damage that was done to the vehicle.

Thankfully, both men survived. Ruben Correas’ act of valor goes to show the lengths some extraordinary people are willing to go for their fellow man. He acted on instinct, and the result was likely a life saved.

What can we learn from this? There is good in people. There is much good. We can’t forget that. Thank you, Ruben Correas, for showing the world what true selflessness looks like.
