Per Today, Lisa Tuzzolo finished the NYC marathon on Sunday, Nov 4, to honor her late husband who gave the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

In the midst of all the unrest in The United States surrounding police and civilians, I think sometimes we forget that while there are bad eggs everywhere, many police officers really do have the right heart when it comes to doing their job of protecting citizens.

Lisa Tuzzolo’s late husband, Paul Tuzzolo, gave his life in the line of duty. Now, the NYPD family has surrounded her and helped and supported her as she raises her two sons. In the video above, you see how much they have supported her — the race somewhat of a representation of her life now.

For her, running the NYC marathon was a way to honor her husband’s legacy. She did so surrounded by her late husband’s NYPD comrades.

“They’re the ones that give me the strength to keep going every single day — to fight the fight, to push through this awful hand of cards that we’ve been dealt, and to teach my children, you don’t back down,” she said of the men and women on the police force who have supported her family through this tragedy. “We don’t give up, and we keep fighting.”

As Today reports, the NYPD also showed up to send her son off to begin Kindergarten when the time came for him to board the bus to go off to school.

Lisa is in good hands, and so are her sons. As she ran on Sunday, finishing that marathon, she showed people that, though the loss of her loved one was horrible, she is still going strong with the support of her adopted family.

Her strength is so inspirational. She is creating beauty out of tragedy, and she is running the race of life with everything she has.
