Dolittle was so much fun. Here are a few reasons why buying a ticket is well worth the time and money.
I can’t say enough positive things about Dolittle. I saw it last night with my fiance, and we were both laughing the entire time. Here are a few reasons why seeing it in theatres is worth it.
- The cast is star-studded to the max
Just the fact that Ironman, (I mean Robert Downey Jr — no, I really wrote it that way and caught myself) was in the movie was enough to get me into the theater. I thought that no matter how good or bad the story was, he would carry the movie. And he did. But he had a lot of help, which made it a lot of fun.
This movie boasted a cast with the likes of RDJ, Michael Sheen, and Antonio Banderas, with the addition of the voice talents of Tom Holland, Emma Thompson, Selena Gomez, Craig Robinson, John Cena, Rami Malek, Octavia Spencer, and many others to fill it out.
I mean, it was loaded with talent — and it showed. This is one of the best voice acting conglomerates ever assembled. They really delivered. It was just an insanely fun group that they put together. That, in and of itself, would be enough to make the movie worth it. But there is a lot more to love about it.
2. Robert Downey Jr.’s Acting
Was amazing. We thought he was good before — he’s only getting better. On the Joe Rogan Experience, he revealed that he looked up Welsh doctors in order to find something to emulate. And he nailed it. Watch below as he shares his thought process.
This role, for Robert Downey Jr., was a step outside of what he’s been typically playing over the last several years — the sort of cocky, smart guy. Here, he was broken, humble, and weird. Okay, he was still smart. But this was totally different. He was cloaked with a different personality than we’re used to seeing. And the fact that he nailed that so well was just awesome to see.
3. The dynamic between RDJ and Michael Sheen will have you rolling
I’ll keep this one short because I refuse to ruin this for anyone planning on seeing the movie, but the dynamic between these two had me dead to rights, laughing my tail off.
Trust me on this one.
4. I have never liked animal movies, but Dolittle got me
One of the main reasons I think this movie is worth it is that I actually can’t stand animal movies. Animated, live-action, talking animals are some of my least favorite films of all time. But this one just got me. It won me over.
The humor, the voice acting, the dialogue — it just won me over, and quickly. To be honest, I mostly went to see it so I could take my animal-loving Fiance to a movie she would actually enjoy. In my head, this was a great compromise: she doesn’t really like movies (and I d0); she loves animals (and I don’t). Perfect compromise.
I did not expect that it would be ME losing my popcorn laughing just as much, if not more (ok probably more) than her when these goofball animals would say something stupid. I just had to give up and say, you know what, this is funny. I am enjoying myself, and that’s just fine with me.
So all in all, I guess what I’m trying to say is, you won’t regret seeing this movie, no matter how macho you think you are. Go see it; check it out for yourself. You won’t be disappointed.
