We’ve been seeing the videos on YouTube — the viral moments and the custom lightsabers coming out of Galaxy’s edge. Now, there will be an all-immersive hotel on a “star cruiser!”
Look… I’m a Star Wars nerd. I used to be a mediocre Star Wars nerd — I knew some stuff but wasn’t entirely in the loop. Now —- I’m all in. I’m watching theory videos and learning canon (a word I also didn’t know until I took the full plunge to nerdom) and I have never been a happier little nerd!
Needless to say, when I was on YouTube one day and discovered Disneyland/World had both created a theme park called Galaxy’s edge, I was hooked.
They also made the wise decision to open up the park to the media in advance, so the word got around like wildfire. Anyway, check this out!
You can build a custom droid (with a flippin personality!) You customize it to your liking, build it, and activate it.
You can also build a custom lightsaber. You have to register for this experience in secret, though, so The First Order doesn’t catch you.
You can also fly the millennium falcon:
The rides are bonkers:
And you have to watch out because there are stormtroopers everywhere:
Anyway, I gotta go!
But it gets better. Yesterday, I heard that Disney is in the process of creating a galactic style hotel — a hotel that mimics being on a galactic star cruiser.
The hotel is currently under construction and will provide a whole immersive 2-day – 2-night experience inside the “spaceship.” And to further reinforce the feeling of being on a journey, supposedly one of the “on-land excursions” will be at Batu, which is Galaxy’s edge.
According to Disney, guests will begin their “flight” by entering a cruise terminal, after which you will take a launch pod to the “Starcruiser,” where you will board. From this point on, visual effects will mimic being in space.
Windows will show views of the stars and planets as you pass them by.
And there will be plenty to do onboard. While on the trip, you can tour the navigation center of the ship, and you can even train with a lightsaber. You can also see the engine room and spend time in the Silver C lounge.
But maybe the best part are the rooms, or “cabins,” which will mimic the bunkers we’ve seen in the movies. These cabins will have a window where you can look out into space and see what’s going on out there.
There was a lot of thought put into this.
Watch the featured video above and you’ll see the concept art for yourself! What a fun, amazing idea for Star Wars fans!
