Yancy Butler, Chris Mulkey, and David Chokachi star in Emerald Run, a movie about a fight for family.
Director Eric Etebari’s film Emerald Run is about a man (John Thomas, played by David Chokachi) who will do almost anything for his daughter (Lisa Thomas, played by Marialisa Caruso), who ails from a destructive disease.
In order to provide some work for the proud father, John Thomas, his father-in-law (Alfio Sarda, played by Chris Mulkey) offers him work — smuggling emeralds across the Mexican border.
The thought-provoking film, like Breaking Bad, takes viewers into the depths of a heart-breaking family dynamic where survival is the goal, and crossing over the grey line is the path chosen.
Emerald Run features a particularly dynamic performance from Yancy Butler, who played John Thomas’ wife, Anna Thomas, in the film.
When we asked her reps for a statement regarding what made this film stand out to her, she responded with the following:
“I like the idea that, while this man finds himself in a dangerous and exciting journey, he’s also on an internal journey, struggling to find out where his morals lie and what he really believes in. “
